The Internal Mechanics Behind Elite Performance
Understanding how the FX Impact M4 Extended Black achieves its impressive performance requires examining the internal systems responsible for pressure management, harmonics, and mechanical timing.
1. The Upgraded Valve System
Every power stroke begins inside the valve. Because FX designed an extremely responsive valve assembly, the M4 Extended Black avoids the mechanical sluggishness found in less advanced PCP rifles. Furthermore, the lightweight valve return mechanism reduces dwell time in a predictable way.
Advantages of the Upgraded Valve
-
Faster valve response
-
More efficient air usage
-
Reduced air turbulence
-
Lower regulator strain
-
Improved high-power slug tuning
Because these elements work together, the rifle responds accurately to fine tuning adjustments.
2. Dual-Stage Regulator Evolution
Although FX introduced dual-stage regulation in earlier generations, the M4’s regulator architecture exhibits the most refined iteration to date. Because its first-stage regulator smooths incoming tank pressure before it reaches the second-stage regulator, the system maintains clean, consistent output pressures.
Why Dual Regulation Matters
-
Prevents pressure spikes
-
Keeps shot groups tight
-
Supports high-power builds
-
Reduces wear on internal seals
-
Optimizes consistency across full tank cycles
Even though dual regulation sounds mechanically simple, the precision required to execute it effectively is profound.
3. Plenum Volume and Air Storage Efficiency
Because the plenum holds the temporary air charge used for each shot, its size and shape influence power delivery, efficiency, and accuracy. The FX Impact M4 Extended Black features an improved plenum structure that supports heavier slugs at higher velocities without destabilizing the airflow.
Plenum Improvements Include
-
Increased volume
-
Directional airflow shaping
-
Anti-turbulence interior machining
-
Superior O-ring sealing design
Consequently, power tuning becomes smoother, more intuitive, and more forgiving.

A Field-Ready Powerhouse for Every Shooting Discipline
The FX Impact M4 Extended Black shines not only on the bench but also in real use scenarios across hunting, long-range plinking, competitive shooting, and pest control. Because the platform adapts effortlessly, it becomes a single rifle capable of meeting multiple demands.
1. Small Game and Pest Control Applications
Hunters value precision, quiet performance, and reliability. Because the M4 Extended Black delivers all three, it excels in ethical small-game harvesting. Furthermore, its adjustable power output allows shooters to tailor their energy levels based on quarry type, distance, and environmental constraints.
The FX Impact M4 is the fourth generation of the Impact line. These PCP air rifles are known for their high modularity and adjustability.
This modular design makes the Impact extremely widely applicable. Whether it’s competitions, pest control or hunting, the Impact can do it all!
This Extended version of the FX Impact M4 is equipped with an extra long 800mm barrel with an STX Standard liner and a 580cc 250 bar carbon bottle.
The M4 has quite a few changes compared to its predecessor, the Impact M3.
Some parts have been completely redesigned, but there are also small subtle adjustments.
Power & Adjustability
The most important feature is of course the adjustability.
In addition to very high power, the Impact M4 can also offer the more subtle low power ranges.
This makes the Impact M4 just as good a choice for shooting the heaviest slugs as the lightest (even lead-free) pellets.
When adjusting the power, in addition to achieving the desired power, it is also possible to “fine-tune” it get it extremely consistent velocities.
The Impact M4 has the following adjustment options:
AMP regulator
The regulator is one of the most important parts of a good PCP rifle.
This pressure regulator ensures that this air rifle uses exactly the same pressure for every shot.
This regulator can be adjusted from the outside to a maximum of 170 BAR.
As long as the pressure in the reservoir is higher than the set pressure, the regulator will fill the plenum to this pressure for each shot.
Where the Impact M3 used the dual regulator system, the M4 has a single regulator with a higher filling speed.
It is now equipped with a brass piston, which is sturdier and more consistent than its plastic predecessor.
Valve adjuster
The Valve adjuster is located between the bottle and the barrel.
This knob allows the spring tension of the valve to be adjusted. This spring tension decides how long the valve remains open at the bulkhead.
Markings appear when turning outwards. The further out the knob is, the more air the valve can let through.
Quick Tune System
Working closely with the Valve adjuster is the renowned Quick Tune System that adjusts the hammer spring tension.
This system consists of 2 adjustment knobs on the left side of the Impact.
This Macro knob (16 steps from 1.5-4.5 m/s) and Micro adjustment knob (finetune steps from 0.3-0.6 m/s) can make the hammer strike the valve with the perfect momentum.
Again, the higher these are set, the more air comes through the valve.
Dual Transfer Port
At the bottom of the rear of the barrel of many air rifles there is a hole through which air can flow into the barrel. This is the transfer port.
Like many FX air rifles, the Impact M4 has a double transfer port with a port on both the bottom and the top.
The standard port is marked with a “P” (pellets). By rotating the barrel 180 degrees, the Impact uses the different “S” (slugs) transfer port with a wider passage for increased flow and power.
Top plate and picatinny rails
The Impact M4 has a completely different top plate than its predecessors.
In addition to the fact that this plate is now thicker for greater strength, a dovetail has now also been milled into it. The 30 MOA Picatinny rails slides into this dovetail.
Because these rails can slide freely, the ideal distance to the eye is not a problem for the M4.
That was no problem for normal optics, but this makes the Impact M4 extremely suitable for short eye-relief rifle scopes such as the MTC SWAT or Element Immersive 14×50 or thermal imaging/night vision scopes with special mounting brackets.multi shot pellet gun
The picatinny rails has a built-in angle of 30MOA.
This means that the rails are already tilted forward by default, so that the scope maintains its adjustment range over longer distances.multi shot pellet gun
Quick Set Trigger
The trigger is also new in every respect. In previous generations, the trigger left something to be desired when the rifle really moved to higher power ranges.
This new trigger group is designed to work perfectly in any style of shooting.
This makes the trigger not only adjustable in weight, but also to the position of the hand and fingers.
Whether these are speed competitions, bench rest or hunting, high or low power ranges. This trigger is perfectly adjustable.
Whether as a hunter or pest controller you want a predictable long stroke, or in shooting sports you prefer a feather-light trigger with a refined breaking point.
This can be adjusted with one screw using the Quick Set Trigger.
In addition, the entire trigger can be moved in distance, the first and second stages are adjustable and the trigger blade is adjustable in height and can be rotated.kral puncher k
Ambidextrous sidelever
Like its predecessors, the Impact M4 uses a smooth sidelever to cycle the system.
This lever is on the right side by default and can easily be converted to the left.
This makes this rifle ideal for left-handed shooters or speed competitions.kral puncher k
New Hi-Cap magazine
The Impact has long been known on the market for its large magazine capacity.
This magazine has also been revised with new, stronger materials. The internal mechanism has been optimized, so that the rotating part still moves smoothly and powerfully even with the heaviest slugs.
The interior of the magazine has now also been made more spacious for longer ammunition.
While the older magazines allowed a maximum of 11mm long ammunition, the new magazines are perfectly suitable for 12mm long pellets or slugs.
UG1 grip
The Impact M4 is equipped with the UG1 pistol grip.
This new grip is surprisingly comfortable to use and can be interchanged with any pistol grip with an AR-15 connection if desired.
STX Barrel system – 800mm
The Smooth Twist X barrel system can’t be missed on FX PCP air rifles.
This barrel system consists of the barrel housing with shroud and an interchangeable liner system.
This interchangeable liner can be exchanged with, for example, the STX Heavy liner with a different twist rate and choke that is optimized for slugs.
The entire barrel can also easily be exchanged for a different caliber or barrel length.
When changing calibers, the pellet probe is now also easier to replace.
