Although Taipan were more than happy with the reception and results the Taipan Veteran received, they didn’t want to rest on their laurels. As time moves on, so does technology and trends in the airgun world.

It’s now time to introduce the latest iteration of the Veteran – the Taipan Veteran II 550mm Grey Laminate. It’s so much more than just an upgraded version of the first-gen Veteran. Think of it as a completely new rifle, which builds upon the success of its predecessor and takes it even further.

In 2025, Taipan began producing an updated version of the Veteran II which includes several tweaks.

The modified version is newly equipped with the popular ADF (Anti Double Feed) system, which prevents loading a pellet into the barrel if there is already one inside. Additional changes apply to the side lever handle, which now offers a tactical look with a grooved surface. However, if you prefer the original one, it is also comes with this in the box.

Taipan Veteran II Tactical 550mm Full Stock comes outfitted with a 480 cc kevlar bottle for increased air volume. The free-floating barrel is fully shrouded and has an extended sound moderator. This can also be swapped for the shorter moderator, which comes with the Standard variant. Both moderators are interchangeable.

The model comes with a full stock. The synthetic buttstock features an adjustable rubber butt pad for increased comfort while taking aim and shooting.

The Umarex Notos is a light and agile rifle that is easy to use.
Because it is equipped with an internal regulator, the pressure behind each shot is constant. With very good accuracy as a result.

The Notos has a “tactical” look thanks to the AR15 style sliding stock (with 5 positions!) and 22mm full length picatinny.
In addition, a jacket is installed that continues on a fixed silencer. This not only looks good, but is also very effective in making this relatively powerful rifle backyard friendly.

The Notos is also very easy to use.
Thanks to the side lever on the left side, this rifle can be cocked quickly and smoothly.
Included with the rifle you get a single shot tray and a 7 rounds magazine.

Also the kit comes with a 3-9×40 scope with illuminated reticle and adjustable objective and a very nice bipod.
Filling is easy with the supplied filling probe. This probe has a connection for a foster quick connect (see images).

Test
We ran the Umarex Notos in store over the chronometer with several popular pellets to see what the power class of this little plinker is.
To our surprise, this device put out a solid 22 to 28 joules of muzzle energy. That makes this rifle a very interesting option for its size and purpose.
